Could Wives in Arranged Marriages be Happier?

We seldom hear any mention of arranged marriages in our society. Were someone try to make these arrangements for their child, it is very likely that some type of authority would be contacted for a form of abuse. However one study did find that women who are in arranged marriages are actually happier than women in marriages with men that they selected for themselves. The study found that women in an arranged married are much more realistic when it comes to dealing with romance and love and thus they can more enjoy the person that they are with. Marriage in the News: Divorce = Jail Time? When $2.5 Million is Involved, Apparently So

It’s odd to talk about divorce here in the Marriage Blog, but the latest entry in my Marriage in the News topic and while I’ve written about some strange things here in the Marriage in the News, I have to say this is one of the stranger stories that I’ve ever read. In a county jail cell just outside Philadelphia, a man named H.Beatty Chadwick has been sitting in jail for 11 years. On what charges, are you wondering? Contempt of court for failure to turn over $2.5 million dollars that he says he can’t turn over because he doesn’t … Continue reading

Marriage In The News: Jilted Bride Makes Lemonade from Lemons

The title is a bit cliché, but when I read about Kyle Paxman’s story – I couldn’t help but feel for this woman and what she managed to do with her heartbreak. It seems that just six weeks before her wedding, a stranger appeared at her business office with multiple e-mail messages and supporting evidence that Ms. Paxman’s fiancé was having an affair with the stranger’s girlfriend. It’s hardly surprising that the wedding was called off, but Ms. Paxman’s dress had already arrived and all the arrangements, pre-payments and more were done. There were more than a 180 guests invited … Continue reading

Marriage In the News: Arranged Marriage Fraud

Since I used to live in Virginia, this story caught my eye when I read it in the Washington Times. It seems that on Thursday, federal authorities arrested over 19 residents in Virginia for a scam that is connected to nearly a 1,000 fraud marriages between illegal aliens and U.S. citizens in order to avoid the immigration laws. As you may or may not know, an illegal immigrant may be granted citizenship status if they are married to a U.S. citizen and the marriage is validated by immigration officials as being based on a real relationship and not one entered … Continue reading

Social Love?

In ideal situations, marriages are built around love. They are not prearranged or set-up based upon social status, political views, or financial means. To be success and healthy they should be built on pure and honest feelings. However, as we all know, not everything in life works the way that it was designed or meant to happen. While I am on a roll of discussing favorite movies, such as in my last article discussing Serendipity, I will throw another all time favorite out there Legally Blonde. In this movie, Elle is told that she is not the type of girl … Continue reading
